16 years old.

Losing her parents at a young age, Nandhini has chosen great determination to forget her struggles. Naturally very timid, a large part of her journey has been through creative expression by teaching herself traditional South Indian dance. We began to understand how important this is for her during the second photo journalism class as the students learned why their story matters. This was a monumental moment for Nandhini. As she is beginning to channel her need for expression through a camera, her confidence is strengthening, encouraging her to share her jovial spirit with others and find ownership in her past and thankfulness in her present.
