“Photography allows children an unfiltered medium

through which to express their voices, and the 100cameras photos included herein serve as a window into their experience... When children are engaged, they become active participants in resilience building and recovery.”

A PROVEN PATHWAY FOR YOUTH TO THRIVE

Every child deserves more than survival. They deserve the tools to process their experiences, share their stories, imagine their futures with hope, and channel their strength into their communities.

Research conducted with United Nations Institutions proves that the 100cameras curriculum delivers measurable improvements in youth well-being, resilience, and self-confidence. Youth who participate in our program consistently demonstrate greater optimism for their future, a stronger belief in their ability to contribute, and the recognition that what they have to say is important.

This is not just an arts program. It is a research-backed methodology that equips youth with a new language —photography and storytelling — that enables them to process their world, connect with others, and thrive.

A RESEARCH-BACKED LANGUAGE FOR WELL-BEING

100cameras delivers a curriculum that transforms photography into more than creativity — it becomes a language of understanding and connection. Through guided lessons, reflection, and storytelling, students develop self-confidence and come to recognize that their thoughts and ideas are important.

Unlike traditional arts education, this program directly addresses today’s urgent need for outlets that support well-being, resilience, and belonging.

WHEN YOUTH AREN’T HEARD, THEY WITHDRAW

Research confirms that when youth lack spaces to process experiences and feel seen, they are more likely to disengage, isolate, and “opt out” of their surroundings. By offering a creative outlet through photography, we invite youth to “opt in” instead — to their community, their growth, and their future. This shift fosters belonging, empathy, and resilience — the building blocks of stronger communities.

YOUR GIFT MAKES A LASTING IMPACT

Scholarships funded by donors ensure that no youth is excluded. Each scholarship equips a student with the curriculum experience, camera equipment, and new tools to process experiences while building lifelong skills.

  • $500 equips one student to participate, including curriculum and camera equipment.

  • Monthly gifts expand access globally and sustain participation year-round.

PROVEN IMPACT: A PATHWAY TO CHANGE

  • 93% of students reported greater optimism about their future.

  • 94% reported a greater sense that they can make a difference in their own lives and in their communities.

  • 92% reported greater self-confidence in their ability to express their emotions and feelings.

OUR CORE VALUES

THE FOUNDATION OF EVERY SCHOLARSHIP

1. SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS

Our work collaborates with local schools, community organizations, homeschool charters, and families, ensuring the needs and voices of youth are heard, respected, and prioritized. We adapt our curriculum and programming to fit the local context and goals of each setting, supporting local leadership and ideas so every student has the opportunity to participate fully and feel supported.

2. LISTEN, LEARN, EVOLVE, REPEAT

We prioritize continuous improvement by actively listening to students, educators, families, and partners. Through surveys, assessments, and third-party research, we gather valuable feedback that strengthens our curriculum. This constant feedback loop allows us to evolve and adapt, ensuring our programs remain meaningful, relevant, and lasting.

3. YOUTH ARE THE HEROES OF THE STORY

Our curriculum centers youth as storytellers, placing them at the heart of their own stories. Their experiences and contributions are the focal point of every lesson. Each photograph and reflection is an opportunity to uplift students and their communities, highlighting their value and self-confidence. These are stories told by youth, for youth.

IMPACT CASE STUDIES

KHANKE, KURDISTAN IRAQ

A 9 year old and his neighbors were highly persecuted by the Islamic State fighters for their Yazidi faith, and their entire region of Sinjar was in grave danger. After a miraculous weeks-long escape, his family arrived at an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Northern Iraq. When this program met him 5 years later, he took photographs of a single flower that grew alone in the middle of dirt during the curriculum activities and would express -- for the first time according to his community elders -- that it sometimes could represent loneliness or hope or fear to him and his family.

BRONX, NEW YORK USA

One of our outcomes and measurement tools that tracks impact is a Pre-course Survey that identifies how students feel about themselves, their role in their community, and their place in the world. During this program, a 12 year old stood up at the beginning of the first class, and her answer to the survey question, How do you feel knowing that other people want to see your perspective and hear your story? was “No one will care. No one has ever cared. And that’s all I have to say about that”. At the end of the curriculum and course, when asked the same question again, she stood up and said, “I am really proud.”
